2015 Rolex Grand Prix
The Australian Grand Prix Corporation today announced Melbourne model and social media influencer, Elyse Knowles, as the female Ambassador for the 2015 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
Hailing from the Melbourne suburb of Eltham, Knowles, 22, has fast become the city’s next ‘it’ girl, working her way up the ranks of the local and international modelling scene while leaving a giant social media footprint in her wake.
Knowles, whose face will become synonymous with the 2015 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix in the lead up to, and during the event, couldn’t be happier about securing the prestigious role.
“I’m lucky to have travelled to some amazing spots around the world but I’m never happier than when I’m on home soil. In my eyes, Melbourne is the best place on earth - there’s absolutely nowhere else that compares, especially when it comes to big sporting events,” Knowles said.
“I love extreme sports or anything with a bit of action so I can’t wait to experience everything that Formula One is about – it’s all still sinking in, but I’m so excited about the opportunity!”
Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Andrew Westacott, is pleased to welcome Knowles as ambassador for the 2015 Formula 1® Rolex Australian Grand Prix.
“In 2015 we’re celebrating two decades of Formula One in Melbourne and it’s fantastic that the event can provide another up and coming Melbourne model with a springboard onto the world stage,” Westacott said.
“Elyse is the epitome of the great Australian spirit – hard working, down to earth and good-humoured and she will be an exceptional ambassador for the event and for Melbourne.”
A self-confessed thrill seeker, Knowles’ adrenalin is set to reach new levels when she takes a ride in the Formula 1®Australian Grand Prix Swisse Two-seater as part of her role.
Her duties will also include welcoming international guests and celebrities to Melbourne for the March event, as well as hosting the hottest party of year - GP@23 at Crown’s Club23.
Since joining social media platform Instagram in 2012, Knowles has amassed a 270k-strong contingent of followers, and become a positive role model for females across the globe through her dedication to a happy and healthy life.
She has also recently released her own denim brand Evrryday, which supports the charity WaterAid. WaterAid is committed to transforming lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation (5% of each Evrryday purchase goes to WaterAid)
