Shooting in Venice Beach LA !
There's nothing better than teaming up with an Aussie mate when you're in LA! I recently teamed up with photographer extraordinaire Chris Bagot (@bagot ) to shoot some kickass content in LA!!
We were lucky enough to also have Kylie (a girlfriend of mine) with us too driving us around all day! From location to location with a car load full of clothes & accessories. A fashion shoot on wheels!
Two days before the shoot we spent a few hours at The Wasteland picking out epic vintage pieces! We spent quite a bit of money there but it was well worth it. I already can't wait to wear some of the amazing pieces again! Details below... As well at Wasteland we hit up Fairfax Market ... another place you must check out if you come to LA. It is heaven on earth and it never gets old!
The actual shoot day was wicked. We shot all over Venice, running around trying hard to catch the last three hours of the LA sunset. This is the GOLDEN time to shoot here. The light is richer & heavier so it adds a lot of texture to the outcome of the images. It's much different to the bright glare of the Aussie sun!
For this shoot I did my own hair & makeup and I styled the shoot. Sometimes this is the best way when you're doing more of a spontaneous shoot. You don't have as many people contributing ideas & restyling so you can take charge! You can be direct and quick... plus sometimes it's nice to take the creative role! You learn so much more when you do things yourself.
The result was awesome!! The three of us achieved a tonne of shots with many different looks in a very small window of time. GO TEAM !! Thank you to both Chris & Kylie! Legends.
The styling details... Most of it was vintage! But there are a few bits & bobs you can find to buy! These include...
