It's a big day today! The range I've been collaborating on with Fisher Price, is here!!
My beautiful boy Sunny was the inspiration for this collection as he was in my belly! At 9months I was feeling very maternal and so excited to visualise our time together! These visualizations and the excitement i felt about our time together influenced the direction of the designs & the functionality.
I knew being a new mum meant tired eyes, stressful moments and so many decisions! All of a sudden you're in charge of this little bundle and responsible for their health, their happiness and their one zillion daily nappies! It's a huge life transition!
People started telling me that if I remained calm in the presence of my newborn, I'd feel more confident, comfortable & in control. It's a known concept that bubs pick up on the energy around them - so this really made me think. When I need to slow down a little and be calm, the outdoors is exactly where I need to go! When I'm surrounded by fresh air & open light, I am truly the best version of myself. Whether it's at the park, by the water, in the bush - the outdoor space is where I feel grounded.
When I was asked to collaborate with Fisher Price, I wanted to take these ideas and somehow offer this path to calmness to other new mummas. The inspiration behind the custom prints was therefore Native Australia from the get-go. We live in one of the most beautiful counties, so it made sense to honour as many native elements as possible. The colours & shapes used are gentle, soothing & peaceful. They represent innocence and such a lovely connection to the simple things in life & home sweet home.
Over the past couple of years we've all become more inward. Our homes have become our safe sanctuaries. Many people, like myself, take great pride in decorating the space within their home. We want home to feel warm and welcoming. This new way of living certainly played a part in the Fisher Price designs. The aim was to create a collection that wouldn't be too jarring in any environment. I wanted the individual pieces to complement as many Australian homes as possible, with a beautiful neutral palette that could seamlessly fit within any room. I think parents & carers will warm to the natural element. While we live in a world run on technology, closeness to nature is something we need to preserve and prioritise. It helps keep us grounded. I think we can all relate to that.
So mums, dads & carers... I am so proud and excited to be introducing this new Fisher Price x Elyse Knowles range for you & your darling bubbas. For their nursery, their feeding space & play areas, the range is aimed to help each and every household enjoy every moment together. Life is so precious, especially when a new little member of the family joins. From me to you and your families, enjoy!
