Refined & Refreshed

I thought I'd write a little update on how my skin has been tracking of late. So many people very kindly give me their personal recommendations based on their own experiences and stories. To everyone who has done so, thank you so much. I take all of your notes on board & I really do appreciate how open and vulnerable you allow yourselves to be.

Pregnancy has been a wild time body wise! The female body is AMAZING isn't it?! I mean it's pretty special to observe the growth of your belly each day, all the while knowing that there is a little baby inside fattening up! I count myself super lucky as since my morning sickness ended I have felt pretty normal. My energy levels fluctuate at times & my skin pigmentation goes a little crazy, but for most part I just feel just so grateful to be on this journey.

When it comes to skin in particular, the hormones associated with pregnancy, particularly the higher levels of oestrogen can have quite a noticeable effect. For this reason I've stuck to a refined routine so I can let my body do what it needs to do to get through the pregnancy. Over the last 6 months that I have been using their products, MAAEMO has been wonderful. Their refined & nourishing range means I can enjoy clean, cleansed & hydrated skin, even when I am going through hormonal surges.

The good news ... well the BEST news is that I'm getting almost no big, red & sore spots anymore. My skin used to suffer from spots that sat deep under the skin & they were painful. Ughhh just thinking about it brings back bad memories! The consistency & simplicity of MAAEMO has helped me fight these little buggers off! Since switching to the range & remaining true to particular daily habits, my complexion feels and looks far less "angry, frustrated and confused!" It knows what it's getting & when it's getting it, meaning it can work out what it's lacking or under/over producing and then balance as necessary.

Every second or third night I'm using The Fruit Enzyme Refiner which is a super gentle exfoliant. It's great at removing "stickier" products such as sunscreen as well as removing dead skin cells & encouraging cell renewal. Removing dry/dead skin regularly also helps to ensure your pores don't get clogged. The refiner uses powerful AHA fruit enzymes to buff away impurities and it leaves your skin feeling smooth. It leaves suchhhh a nice feeling.

The Eye Gel has been a godsend! I'm feeling more tired these days with the bump growing, so this gel is my daily angel! With coffee beans and Hyaluronic Acid (which we all know is SO FANTASTIC for hydration!!), the gel restores the skin around my eyes and gives the elasticity the kick it needs!

If anyone is looking for a clean, dependable & go-to face elixir, I’d suggest trying MAAEMO's Vitalize Face Elixir. This baby is loaded with Hemp Oil goodness meaning it's silky smooth, packed with anti-inflammatories and it does wonders for those (like myself), who are looking to return balance & harmony to their skin without using a million different things. All skin types & all ages shouldn't have an issue with Hemp Oil (especially when it's Certified Organic). It shouldn’t irritate the skin, it's non comedogenic (meaning it’s none for not clogging pores) and it's not heavy or super thick. As mentioned above, since refining my daily skincare routine to focus on the MAAEMO range, I'm getting far less deep/sore blemishes on my forehead and cheeks. My skin is smoother, less inflamed and it just looks brighter. The pregnancy has been playing with my pigmentation, so you'll notice I have some patches of discolouration ... but that’s just the joys of pregnancy hormones right!?!

And I am totally ok with it as there's pretty much nothing I'm game enough to complain about given how LUCKY I feel to have a baby on the way.
