The Bliss of the Northern Territory
We were recently fortunate enough to spend some time in the spiritual heart of Australia, Uluru in the NT. Uluru, one of our country's most iconic landmarks, is made famous by it's incredible Aboriginal history & the many stories and secrets it keeps. It's hard to put the experience into words but when you're standing on the richness of the soil, it's as if you can feel it's charm & culture radiate through your bones. It is a remarkable place to explore & one that I couldn't recommend more highly.
What amazed me most about the time we spent up north was how proud the land felt. These big open spaces layered in heavy rock formations that have stood there for years and years. The things they must have seen & heard right? It almost feels like the land has eyes and ears of their own... just listening in to those who visit & whispering back in a way that we can feel, but we can't see. It is a special place to be.
The best way to explore Uluru is definitely to book a guided tour so that you are led by a local. The knowledge of the guides is deep & endless and their love for country is a pretty special thing to be in the presence of ... their love and respect is contagious! They teach you all about the strong ties formed between the land's natural formations & the traditional owners, the Anangu. What you learn, you'll never forget.
When you travel anywhere in the world it's pretty fun to explore other cultures, languages, histories and communities. You step outside of your own normal life and right into another world. What I am so passionate about at the moment, is reminding people that while countries overseas are exciting, our own backyard is just as exciting! You don't have to fly abroad to uncover newness & make memories. You can do it all within Australia as we have a huge country at our fingertips.
Whether you prefer to camp or choose from the variety of accommodation along the journey to Uluru, you will witness the beautiful destination and you'll be blown away. Between the red dirt, the energy of the local community members, the canyons, the gorges, and the incredible hikes ... there is no shortage of breathtaking moments! I cannot wait to return! This is a place I'd love to make sure my family experiences from a young age.
I'll leave you with the images below & this very special video, all taken by the extremely talented Nic Morley (@nic_mindset). As Josh & I decided to announce our pregnancy in Uluru, it'll always hold a magical place in our hearts.
