But pre-race in Melbourne on Sunday the focus was well and truly fixed on the VIP-filled pitlane, as celebrities showed off their stylish fashion.
From colourful gowns for the ladies to blokes looking suave in suits, Formula 1 is seen as a sport full of elegance - but it was a futuristic number by glamorous model Elyse Knowles that stole the show.
Opting for a colourful outfit, the 24-year-old blonde beauty combined a bright pink frilly shirt with a shiny silver mini skirt, which showed off her trim pins.
