ELYSE KNOWLES INSTYLE AUGUST 2018.jpg

Elyse Knowles' star is currently on the rise.  Following in Jennifer Hawkins footsteps, she was named as the face of Myer and now the 25-year-old is taking on a new role as Aveda's brand ambassador. A perfect match for Knowles, a self-professed eco-warrior and the Australian plant-based hair care brand.

"I’ve made it quite obvious over the last six months that I've become even more committed to living a much more eco-friendly lifestyle. I would love to encourage as many people as possible to do whatever is within their reach to make our world a more sustainable place," Knowles told InStyle.

Here, we chat with The Block winner about her styling secrets and which products she carries in her gym bag. Keep reading for five minutes with Elyse Knowles...

InStyle: Congrats on your new role with Aveda, how important is environmental sustainability to your everyday life?

Elyse: It’s hugely important.  I would love to encourage as many people as possible to do whatever is within their reach to make our world a more sustainable place. It's not just about us. We have our kids, their kids and their kids to think about.

InStyle: Talk us through your current hair regimen?

Elyse:  Admittedly, my hair regimen is like a deluxe spa ritual these days! I am using Aveda's Damage Remedy shampoo and conditioner ($50 each; at aveda.com.au) at the moment plus I always do a deeper nourish with the Intensive Restructuring Treatment ($55; at aveda.com.au) about once a week.   My hair is an obvious part of my job, but with my job, it can also take a beating…  these products are the key to keeping my hair in the best possible best condition it can be.

InStyle: Which products do you carry in your gym?

Elyse:  Dry shampoo is must-have to revive my style after a gym session so that I’m not having to wash my hair every day–also helping me cut down my water consumption. Plus it makes my hair smell amazing! My favourite is Aveda Shampure™ Dry Shampoo ($32; at aveda.com.au).

InStyle:  What about beauty and skin care, what’s your daily routine?

As far as skincare, I always take makeup off whenever I get home. I like to let my skin breathe where I can. I cleanse and moisturise religiously plus will also have facials to keep my skin as healthy as possible.  I also only use products with an inbuilt SPF.  As far as beauty, when I am not working I like to be quite minimal… a light foundation, some bronzer, some mascara and a lip gloss or balm.
