Kitchen Week !!
30/30!!!!!! Winners are grinners baby!!! What a week! But the exhaustion is nothing compared to the absolute happiness and pride we feel now having won the room with a perfect score. Hard work DOES pay off guys!! Heaps of pics below & a great video for those wanting all the insider tips & secrets :)
Kitchen Week! Kitchen Week has been deemed to be the toughest week on The Block! After living through it, I think we'd agree!! Weeks ago, every couple had to design their kitchen with the team at Freedom. The layout, the white goods & appliances, the fittings & fixtures, the dimensions - everything. Since then, we've been so busy with the other rooms - our kitchen has been completley out of sight, out of mind! So coming back to it felt a bit weird.
Thank god for the legends at Freedom Kitchen. The army of their designers and installation team were amazing. They made the whole room come to life with very few glitches, which we appreciated so much. We stuck to clean lines this week. Neutral colours & inviting textures to make sure it appealed the the majority of families. We used a mixture of dark greys and white for our cabinetry and Caesarstone bench tops & splash backs (in Nobel Grey).
Styling wise we used blush and greys tones mixed in with wooden items + pearl finishes. To keep the aesthetic in line with our earthy, Californian style house - I added a few key pieces to catch your eye and add character. Have a look below at our amazing kettle, our huge wooden cheeseboards, tan leather stools, layers of resin platters & a beautiful concrete candle. I had a ball with the styling this week!
Unlike the other couples, we positioned our island bench so that it projected outwards & drew attention to the outdoor space. We wanted to accentuate the sense of natural light & space. Small, stuffy kitchens are a thing of the past! Families need kitchen areas that are inviting and spacious.
Creating a healthy balance between indoor & outdoor living areas has always been a top prioroty for Josh & I. We are all about bringing the outdoors inside. Fresh, open space. From an entertaining perspective, it's the only way to build a house in our opinion! We spend so much time inside during the week, so when it comes the weekends - we love to open up the house & let the fresh air in!
We were over the moon to win the 5k Domain Prize... any dollar helps in this comp so tune in to find our where we invest the prize money!
Keep following us at @joshandelyse to follow the chaos and The Block Shop is open around the clock for you all to get shopping. The entirity of our kitchen is listed below! Until next week...
